Painless labour during normal vaginal delivery
Painless delivery refers to the use of an epidural injection which is given by anaesthetist for pain relief in labour. It is injected in lower back and thin catheter is placed through which drugs are released around spinal cord
It is an ideal analgesic (pain relief) because it is of rapid onset, effective pain relief in first and second stage of labour, 90% of women are completely or near complete pain relief and last but not least preserve mother
Indication- maternal request ,pre- eclampsia
Side effects -Itching, shivering, drowsiness, some increased risk of instrumental delivery when women is not able to push due do inappropriate perception of pain
